"Julian has been an important figure throughout the development of my career. The “Dedication - Music for Julian Bream” project was originally picked up by EMI London and planned as a tribute for his 70th birthday. However, with EMI overhauled by Universal Music, the new management communicated that they found no commercial value in Berkeley, Britten, Walton, Davies and Takemitsu re-imagined on guitars Bream liked, past and present. (Ober-Oldiges-Rubio-Romanillos were used)

It was an intense journey of a decade, like your website I suppose, a labour of love. So you can imagine it was impossible for me to just let 10 years of preparation go. The Polish record company QBK picked it up and we recorded and released it in 2018 for Julian’s 80th. On my following birthday, I received a wonderful letter from him, thanking me for the project and expressing his appreciation for my record.

It was very hard work I admit, but it was a story that I felt needed to be told. The great festivals that ran my live performance of it in the concert season of 2018-2019 in Europe, America and the UK, my fellow co-stars (like Dylla, Eden-Stell and Kuropaczewski) and the people who heard me do it, understand that they witnessed a “tour de force” that even Bream himself would never have undertaken live. If you have listened to my “Dedication” by now, I'm sure you understand what it was all about."
