Jose first met Julian Bream in England at Wigmore Hall during a John Williams concert 2 to 3 year before moving back to Madrid, Spain. He presented himself as a guitar maker eventhough he had only built 2 or 3 guitars by that time. He wrote down Julian's number on his John William's program.

Once he came back to England he unknowingly moved fairly close to Julian and continued to build guitars although he was primarily a cabinet maker. At that time Marion saw a photo of a lute maker and decided that she need to get Jose in the newspaper. So he was interviewed
